Frown lines and wrinkles are a normal part of the ageing process but they can make you look more tired, angry or older. The structure of skin changes with time becoming less elastic. There are fewer fat cells in the lower layers of the skin (the dermis) and it becomes more transparent whilst the oil and sweat glands (which help keep skin supple) become less active. Muscles in the face also begin to sag and the skin becomes creased and folded. Older skin is drier and renews itself less quickly.

Injectable wrinkle treatments like Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers can help rejuvenate skin. Botulinum Toxin (famously known by the trade name Botox®) is a muscle relaxant which smoothes out lines and wrinkles by freezing muscles temporarily. If injected correctly it can help achieve a fresh and natural looking result.

Dermal fillers like Hydrafill® contain Hyaluronic acid. They are injected into contours and creases to diminish wrinkles and folds. They are also used to plump up underlying skin leaving it smoother and younger looking. They can also be injected into lips and cheeks to increase fullness and definition.

Injectable Muscle Relaxants

By using facial muscles repeatedly throughout our lifetime, the skin is creased in areas of greatest use. The ageing process causes the slowdown of collagen and elastin production in the skin so that as we get older these areas of over use become damaged and the lines become permanent. Botox treatment reduces movement of muscles in these areas and the skin stops being creased and is allowed to recover, causing the lines to soften or even fade away.

Dermal Fillers (Hydrafill)

Dermal fillers are used to soften and contour lines, folds and wrinkles. The most commonly used dermal fillers are Hyaluronic based. The solution is injected into the skin to add volume and create a more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers are an ideal solution for patients wanting to soften deep lines from the mouth to nose area, lip lines, enhance thin lips, create a more defined lip border and to lift the corners of the mouth.

The volume of filler needed varies from area to area and person to person. The amount used will depend on the depth of the wrinkles and folds and will be decided on by you and your doctor at your initial consultation .

Hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) is a common embarrassing condition that can severely impact the lives of sufferers. It is thought that between 2-3% of men and women suffer from excessive sweating of the underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis) or of the palms and feet (palmoplantar hyperhidrosis). Many people are unaware that this condition can be treated quickly and safely with Injectable muscle relaxants to the underarms or other affected areas.

Injectable muscle relaxants, such as Botox, can be used successfully to treat this condition in certain areas like the underarms, palms and soles of the feet. It works by blocking the sympathetic nerves, which in turn stop the sweat glands being stimulated and producing sweat.

The treatment takes about 20 minutes and involves 15-25 very small injections into the area.
